What is a Governing Body?
Click to print a copy of this page

The governing body of a school acts collectively.  Governors support the staff and Headteacher in 3 ways:  to provide a strategic view of where the school is heading, to act as a “critical friend” to the school and to hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of education it provides.

Committees

Our school has the following governor committees

  • Personnel & Chairs
  • Curriculum
  • Finance
  • Community & Premises

We also have governor representatives on the PTA, Kids' Club, Swimming Pool and Health & Safety Committees.

Meetings

Full governors and all committees meet once every half term. Meetings are in the evenings. Governors are also welcome into school on visits during the day.

Training

There is a varied training programme available to all governors with many sessions held in Huntingdon. These sessions are usually held in the evenings.
